Bible Reading: Genesis 12:1-5
Memory verse: Deuteronomy 30:19, “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.”
Generational blessings are as real as generational curses. Too often we hear about being under a generational curse, but what about the generational blessings. Joshua told the children of Israel to be careful what they chose on a daily basis because it produces death or life. We can make life easier for our children by the life we live. Our godly choice makes it easier for our posterity to move ahead. There are blessings that will come the way of your children because you became saved and served God. People you have helped may be favorably disposed towards your children. There are blessings that will be inherited by your children.
God promised Abraham that through him all nations of the earth will be blessed. That promised referred to Jesus the Messiah. Jesus didn’t come in Abraham’s time, but the whole world is blessed because of Abraham’s obedience. Never feel your good works are wasted. It is written - God is not unmindful to forget your labour of love.
