Bible Reading: Romans 1:17
Memory Verse: Genesis 17:5, “No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations. 6 I will make you exceeding fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.”
God changed Abram’s name when he was 99 years old. He was to be called father of many nations. Abraham’s age was not a hindrance to fulfilling God’s plan. It wasn’t only up to God for this to happen, Abraham and Sarah had to be willing to call themselves the new names given to them by God as an act of faith. Imagine what people thought of them when they changed their names to indicate their expectation. This must have made them look stupid before people. Faith in God must be visible. Whenever we confess our expectation, we are exercising faith needed for God to act. The manifestation of our miracle isn’t up to God alone, we join hands with him to bring it to pass when we profess our faith.
