Bible Reading: Genesis 30: 25-43
Memory verse: Genesis 30:30, “For what you had before I came was little, and it has increased to a great amount; the Lord has blessed you since my coming. And now, when shall I also provide for my own house?
Your status in life is not an indication of who you are. Jacob served Laban for 14 years and made nothing for himself, yet he was the source of Laban’s wealth. Laban knew it was because of Jacob he was getting blessed, yet he did his best to keep him down. The most important thing here is that Jacob did not let his circumstances define or tell him who he was. Jacob knew he was blessed and not trying to be blessed, that was why blessings eventually overtook him. Although he struggled for 14 years, he never talked poor. He trusted that the God of Bethel whom he had entered a covenant with would fulfil his promise to him. Romans 8:22 makes it clear that we are the sons of God and creation is waiting for us to show forth. Do not let your circumstances continue to speak to you, rather let the word speak to you and then you speak the word back to your circumstances. God never changes, he did it for Jacob, Isaac and Joseph, he will cause you to prosper in every area if you don’t give up.
